Lunenburg Awards Flat Hill Road Bridge Contract to Kodiak After Prolonged Delays

LUNENBURG — June 16, 2026 — Lunenburg Select Board awards Flat Hill Road Bridge contract and backs state school-funding push. Town Manager Ryan Layton announced Tuesday that the town has awarded the bridge reconstruction contract to Kodiak, the second-lowest bidder after the apparent low bidder was disqualified for a bid defect — the same firm that placed second in the original failed procurement round. Construction is targeted for fall 2026, with the primary uncertainty being whether temperatures will allow a final asphalt top coat before winter. The board also voted 3-0 to authorize a letter to the House-Senate FY27 budget conference committee, drafted at the request of state Representative Scarsdale, urging retention of a Foundation Budget Review Commission and funding special education circuit breaker reimbursements and unrestricted general government aid at the higher of the two chambers' proposed levels — noting that the governor's proposed minimum per-pupil aid of $75 was increased to $160 by both chambers but remains insufficient.
