LUNENBURG — April 14, 2026 — Lunenburg's Council on Aging voted unanimously to grant honorary membership to former chair Pete Lincoln and sounded an urgent alarm that the town's property-tax deferral program has vanished from the official website weeks before a scheduled override vote. The board, meeting April 14, first established a case-by-case honorary membership framework requiring consideration of length of service and contributions to the council, with all rights except voting, then immediately voted to recognize Lincoln, who served 18 years including 10 as chair. Board member Jack Petropoulos reported he confirmed the morning of the meeting that the Chapter 41A senior tax deferral program — distinct from exemptions and filed separately on the town site — "is not up right now," calling it critical because seniors weighing the override may be unaware the deferral option exists.
