Aging Board to Add Its Own Town Report Entry
Council on Aging · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Lunenburg's Council on Aging votes to write its own town report entry, separating its advisory role from the director's. Chair Deb Lincoln and members welcomed new Outreach Coordinator Janet Robbins, four weeks into the job after a decade leading the Ashburnham senior center. Member Jack Rabbit said the board's job is to be "looking out into the future, community, and establishing relationships," distinct from daily operations.
Members flaged conflicting gift-fund figures ranging from $12,000 to $14,000 and asked for a fiscal 2026 year-end report plus quarterly updates going forward. The board is also pursuing a $20,000-threshold capital-planning request to redesign the center's largely non-ADA-accessible parking lot, and raised concerns that Lunenburg may not be in the catchment area of a new UMass emergency facility opening in Groton in early 2027, a two-way question for ambulance transport the board plans to raise directly with regional EMS contacts.
