Lunenburg Select Board Votes to Call Sept. 3 Special Town Meeting

Select Board · Meeting of July 27, 2026

Lunenburg Select Board calls a Sept. 3 special town meeting on a tight legal deadline. The board voted unanimously to schedule the citizen-petitioned meeting for 7 p.m. September 3 at the middle-high school auditorium, with the warrant opening July 28 and closing 5 p.m.

August 7. Town Moderator Tim Murphy told the board he'll be away that day, saying "my absence on the 3rd should not be an impediment in any way," since the charter's deputy-moderator provision or a state-law workaround can cover his absence. A board member acknowledged the calendar left "not a lot of wiggle room" to fit around the September 1 state primary.

The board also approved the primary election warrant and ratified a Teamsters Union Local 170 contract covering DPW employees, both unanimously.
