Lunenburg Finance Committee Unanimously Reappoints Two, Fills One Partial Seat
Finance Committee · Meeting of July 6, 2026
Lunenburg Finance Committee fills three seats ahead of a sustained period of fiscal restraint. The committee voted unanimously at its July 6 meeting to reappoint longtime members Chris Medard and Jay Simeone to full three-year terms and to appoint Peter Beardmore — a former Finance Committee member who had left to serve on the School Committee — to the two years remaining in a seat vacated by a member identified only as Jean. Beardmore, appearing remotely from vacation, framed the town's situation in pointed terms: "I'm careful not to use the word crisis anymore because I think that crises should be short-lived — I think we're in a long-term situation." Members urged Simeone, described as a ten-plus-year veteran, to speak up more often, noting that unexplained dissenting votes leave the committee without the benefit of his institutional knowledge.
The three appointees were expected to be sworn in before the committee's next scheduled meeting Thursday.
