Water · Meeting of August 25, 2026

LUNENBURG — The Lunenburg Sewer Commission closed out a long-pending Laurel Lane sewer repair well under its roughly $20,000 budget, with DPW Director Bill Bernard and staff member Andrew Valliere reporting contracted costs of about $8,200 plus roughly $2,000 in materials. The commission, after meeting with town counsel, kept charging half the original betterment as a "privilege fee" on new sewer connections, including a $50,462.96 fee the board reviewed for a six-unit Massachusetts Avenue condominium project. Commissioner Arthur announced his resignation after picking up additional work hours that conflict with meeting nights, telling colleagues "I've been offered more hours at work" and leaving the five-member board searching for a replacement.

The commission also extended its CTE operations and maintenance contract through November to allow time for competitive rebidding.
