Lunenburg Water District Sets June 10 Deadline on Hickory Hills Zone One Violations

LUNENBURG -- May 27, 2026, Lunenburg Water District moves toward binding decision on Hickory Hills zone one violations. The three-member commission, meeting May 27, set June 10 as the date for a formal resolution on unauthorized vehicles and a kayak rack photographed inside the protected zone one buffer at the Hickory Hills well site, and agreed to invite a Woodlands condominium representative to that session. Superintendent Fran McNamara confirmed that the forthcoming DEP sanitary survey will require the district to produce a corrective action plan for manganese. The board also debated PFAS monitoring methodology ahead of its June 3 special meeting, where ratepayers will vote by two-thirds supermajority on whether to proceed with a roughly $47 million State Revolving Fund-financed treatment plant. The chair described the SRF application as "like a coupon", approved by the state but carrying no spending obligation until voters act.
