Lunenburg Conservation Commission approves culvert order, two compliance certificates at lengthy April meeting

LUNENBURG — April 1, 2026 — Lunenburg Conservation Commission continued four new subdivision hearings and advanced a pond herbicide treatment plan at a nearly four-hour April 1 session. The commission, chaired by Jenny Putherer, voted unanimously to approve an order of conditions for a deteriorated culvert replacement at Northfield Crossing after the town secured a long-delayed private right-of-entry, and also issued certificates of compliance for invasive species removal at 260 Fallula Road and a septic replacement at 1178 Northfield Road. Four single-family home applications filed by Benjamin Builders on Lots 16, 17, 22, and 23 of a 24-lot subdivision at 10 Parmenter Road, all represented by Ryan Proctor of Dillis and Roy, were continued to April 15 pending DEP file numbers; member Mary Wilson flagged the absence of a labeled limit of work in three of the four plan sets and questioned long-term rain garden maintenance responsibility on individually owned lots. A town-filed proposal to treat the fanwort-choked Marshall Pond with a whole-pond systemic herbicide application, presented by TRC certified lake manager Matt Ladwig, was also continued to April 15 for a DEP number, with the commission indicating support for a five-year order of conditions tied to annual operational plans requiring pre-treatment approval.
