Lunenburg Conservation Commission Issues Enforcement Order at 1168 Mass Ave Wetland Site

LUNENBURG — July 1, 2026 — Lunenburg Conservation Commission votes to issue wetland enforcement order, continues boat ramp and stream-crossing hearings. The commission voted 4-0 at its July 1 meeting to authorize its conservation agent to issue an enforcement order at the rear of 1168 Mass Ave, following a DEP site visit that found evidence of unpermitted fill near a stream and recommended action before a statutory ownership-transfer window closes. Member Mary Wilson recused herself from that vote. The commission also continued a notice of intent from the Reservoir Recreational Trust for a new concrete boat ramp at Shady Point on Lake Shirley, 701 Reservoir Road, after resident Carl Luck of 50 Sunset Lane raised concerns about stormwater and pressed the applicant to consider permeable prefabricated panels instead of solid concrete. The commission continued a contested stream-crossing notice of intent at 507 West Townsend Road — backing DEP's call for Massachusetts stream crossing standards and one-to-one wetland replication for a 268-square-foot fill — and approved a three-year order-of-conditions extension for the 757 Chase Road North End Subaru redevelopment after the agent reported observing vehicle washing within the 100-foot wetland buffer zone during a site inspection, prompting property owner Brian Lafferty of Empire Management to appear and pledge that all washing operations on site had been permanently discontinued.
