Lunenburg School Committee Approves Three State Grant Applications Worth Over $112,000

LUNENBURG — April 15, 2026 — Lunenburg School Committee approves three state grant submissions and accepts a $2,000 visual arts scholarship donation. The committee voted unanimously Wednesday to pursue a $40,000 farm-to-school produce grant, a $72,250 PRISM 3 professional development grant through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and a PRISM 2 pre-kindergarten curriculum grant for an amount to be finalized before a May 6 deadline — all state-funded, a distinction members flagged explicitly amid a $130,000 cut to the district's federal Title I allocation. The committee also accepted a donation from the Artisans of Hickory Hills establishing two one-time $1,000 scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing visual arts degrees. Sybil Kaufman, president of the newly formed Lunenburg Education Accelerator Foundation, reported the nonprofit has raised $8,366 and announced a matching challenge doubling every dollar donated through May 31, up to $5,000.
