School Committee · Meeting of October 21, 2026
Lunenburg School Committee learned a structural engineer found the McCarran Field track wall "in a state of failure." Jodi Fortuna told the board the finding, following a 2024 engineering report, will close two track lanes and end bleacher and press box use after this season; an earlier estimate put full replacement near $3 million, headed to the Nov. 17 Special Town Meeting warrant for design funding only. The request to allow non-Lunenburg High School students to participate in homecoming float building did not advance, with members voting 0-2 with one abstention, after member Mandy Gilman warned of "a lot of issues with it just because of the way school districts work." The board also ratified a cafeteria workers' contract 4-0 and approved $89,242.93 in routine budget transfers.
